Balapukische Wort des Tages: bel

bel

EN: English = mountain
EO: Esperanto = monto
DE: Deutsch = Berg

belik = EN: mountainous (adjective) = EO: monta = DE: bergig
beliko = EN: mountainously (adverb) = EO: monte
belel = EN: mountaineer, mountain climber = EO: montano, montogrimpisto = DE: Bergsteiger
belan = EN: mountain dweller, mountain man = EO: montano = DE: Bergbewohner
lebel = EN: large mountain = EO: montego = grosses Berg
smabel = EN: small mountain = EO: malgranda monto = DE: kleines Berg
belil = EN: hill = EO: monteto = DE: Hügel

  1. Thanks for adding me to your blogroll. I like this conlang and I like how detailled you post every day. I do agree about r being evil for an auxlang, at least a global one. Rejistanian has the (pronounced as /x/) because it is a fictional auxlang for a smaller region.

Es ist auch klasse dass Du immer in verschiedenen Sprachen blogst.

  2. Don't be too impressed by the detailed daily posting, it won't last. :)

The reason for the R thing: I kept reading about Volapük that original VO didn't have R at all (not true) and that was why VO lost out to Esperanto (also not true).

In these articles they would also claim that removing R won't help Asians after all. At the same time I'm studying my Korean Pimsleur lessons and finding out for myself that in Korean at least the same syllable can be pronounced with R or L depending on whether another syllable precedes it.

By getting rid of the R, Asian speakers of Balapuk can pronounce L as L or as R and still be understood.

Leider kann ich nicht mehr so gut Deutsch sprechen, und muss mit Babelfish übersetzen. And with Esperanto I use Traduku (http://lingvo.org/traduku) to help with the heavy lifting.
